About Us

AMA Consulting provides targeted consulting and professional services solutions to help organizations improve their performance. We support our clients with: Strategy development and articulation, performance management, facilitation, training, outreach/dissemination, leadership development and executive coaching.

  1. Strategy articulation and development: AMA consultants work with organizations to figure out the best possible way to carry out their mission. We help organizations craft strategy by providing: assessment of current state and future state, determination of organizational identity, assessment of external and internal change factors, selection of best possible strategies and alternatives, development of actionable implementation plan.

    Our Story

    Founded in 2011, AMA Consulting LLC (AMAC) is a Maryland MBE, Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business that helps organizational leaders improve their performance. Our core competencies include: Strategy formation/articulation, government contracting consultation, facilitation, performance management, outreach/dissemination and technical assistance.

    Our consultants have a combined 92+ years of successful leadership experience with a minimum of an MBA degree that have a track record of helping organizations achieve their mission. Our consultants are retired military leaders, former federal government executives and business leaders who have grown successful enterprises. Our diverse pool of expertise provides rich value for our clients.

    Maria Asuelimen, MBA

    Maria Asuelimen, Managing Partner of AMA Consulting LLC has over 16 years of leadership experience in the public and private sector. Maria’s expertise focuses on Organizational Development and Leadership. Her wealth of experience has been a great resource for civilian and defense agencies as well as federal contractors. Prior to starting AMA Consulting, Maria lead a team of academic advisors at University of Maryland University College, worked at Federal Emergency Management Agency as a Management Analyst for economic recovery programs and managed a portfolio of over 100 firms for the U.S . Small Business Administration.

    As Managing Partner of AMA Consulting, Maria leads a team that helps organizations nationwide, create and implement practical strategies to achieve their mission, navigate through tough problems and increase their performance. Maria is a Consultant, Trainer, Facilitator and Executive Coach. Her expertise is working with leaders individually or in groups to uncover blind spots and unleash their already existing greatness.

    Maria earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland and an MBA from University of Maryland University College. Maria received her coaching training from the Georgetown University, Institute for Transformational Leadership in their Leadership Coaching Program. Maria is also Adjunct Faculty and the Prince Georges Community College.

      Work with client and stakeholders to implement action plan, refer back to “problem” to assess current state and refer back to plan to ensure it is still feasible and appropriate if conditions change

    Most of our consultants are based in the Washington DC metro area, however we serve clients in all 50 states.

    What is the fee for your service ?

    For certification support and other technical assistance services, we offer a packaged deal that is of utmost value to clients. For consultations, we charge by the hour and for trainings, we charge day rates. Please contact us for a free consultation and customized quote for the services that you desire.

    How does getting certified help my business?

    Getting certified has many benefits for business owners. Some of the benefits include:
    • Being Eligible For Government Sole-Source Contracts – There are no other competitive bids — up to a ceiling of $4 million for goods and services and $6.5 million for manufacturing.

    What is the 8(a) Certification and Business Development Program?

    Where and how do government agencies publicize contracting opportunities and at what dollar threshold?

    All federal agencies are required to publicize bidding opportunities on http://www.fedbizopps.gov; when the purchase is expected to exceed $25,000, so anyone with Internet access can find out about these opportunities.

    How do I find out which agencies buy products/services similar to mine?

    The Federal Procurement Data Center at https://www.fpds.gov reports statistics on procurement for more than 70 federal agencies. Some federal, state and local government agencies, military installations and prime contractors publish procurement directories and procurement forecasts on their Web sites.

    What is a Small Business Set Aside?

    Under the Small Business Act, federal agencies conduct a variety of procurements that are reserved exclusively for small business participation. These transactions are called “small business set-asides” and include the Small Business Reserve, Set-Asides above the simplified acquisition threshold, the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program, and the Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business Program.
